Stay abreast of the Middle East and south Asia polypropylene (PP) markets.
ICIS offers a wide range of information that can provide short-to-long term solutions for the fast-moving polypropylene industry – from pricing data, news and analysis, to supply and demand forecasts.
Updated to Q1 2021
Q1 supply may stay restricted following new start up delays in China and South Korea, keeping the spotlight on Middle Eastern exports to Asia. Supply may tighten later in Q1 following scheduled maintenance activities at three regional units, with two confirmed. Supply may ease in mid Q1 following the Lunar New Year holiday in Asia. Omani producer OQ may establish commercial production in late Q1, adding to improved supply from late Q1 or later.
Q1 2021 PP demand is expected to continue to recover from Q4 2020 on the gradual post-pandemic economic recovery in most countries in the region. Demand growth is also slated to be fuelled by a recovery in uptake in major countries in Africa and Europe as Middle Eastern processors export finished goods to these markets. Tight spot availability amid some outages at regional units may uphold demand momentum as buyers would look to stock up.
