LONDON (CNI)--Russian energy giant Gazprom said Thursday that its gas and chemicals subsidiary Sibur contributed Rouble2.18bn ($73m/Euro83m) to group first half operating profits.
Gazprom, which acquired 51% of Sibur's voting shares in January this year, said the subsidiary contributed revenues of Rouble25.33bn to group sales in the six months to 30 June.
Comparable figures for the corresponding period of last year were not disclosed. In the full year to 31 December 2000, Sibur made an operating profit of Rouble2.59bn on sales of Rouble37.82bn.
The Gazprom group made a first half 2001 operating profit of Rouble127.28bn, up 45% compared with January to June last year. Pre-tax profits were also up 45%, at Rouble127.61bn, on sales 5.5% higher to Rouble 323.41bn.
