LONDON (CNI)--Dow Chemical said Friday it may be forced cut its linear low density polyethylene (lldPE) or low density polyethylene (ldPE) output in Schkopau, Germany following a partial disruption to its ethylene feedstock supply.
A company source told CNI that Dow buys ethylene "marginally" from Chemopetrol, whose cracker in Litvinov, Czech Republic is currently down due to technical problems. The shutdown could last till the end of this month, he added.
He also pointed out that various derivatives plants at Schkopau receive feedstock supplies from Dow's cracker in Bohlen, Germany.
Dow has a capacity of 160 000 tonne/year for ldPE and 210 000 tonne/year for lldPE at Schkopau.
