BASF's Antwerp cracker LONDON (ICIS news)--Linde has won a Euro180m ($226m) contract for BASF’s ethylene and propylene capacity extension at Antwerp, Belgium, as expected, the German engineering company said on Monday.
The cracker’s ethylene capacity will be increased by one third to 1.08bn tonne/year, while propylene capacity will be raised to 650,000 tonne/year from 460,000 tonne/year, Linde said.

The extension work will include the delivery of a new cracker furnace, and will be using proprietary Linde technology. The project is scheduled for completion during the next regular turnaround in Q4 2007.

Linde, which built the plant in the early nineties, confirmed last week that it had been in talks with BASF on a possible plant extension.
