LONDON (ICIS)--Dow Chemical has started up its 510,000 tonne/year ethylene cracker at Boehlen in Germany following planned maintenance, a source at the US-based chemical major said on Tuesday.

“[The] cracker started up and will be ramping up over the coming days,” the source said.

The maintenance began on 22 June.

Dow also has a 105,000 tonne/year butadiene (BD) extraction unit at the site which is also in the restart process, another company source said.

The extraction unit had been shut down because of the lack of crude C4 feedstocks from the cracker.

The Boehlen cracker also has the capacity to produce 225,000 tonnes/year propylene, according to ICIS data.
