LONDON (ICIS)--Solvay’s routine maintenance at its vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) facility in Rheinberg, Germany, is underway, said a vinyls company source on Monday.

The maintenance at the VCM plant in Rheinberg started on 22 April and is expected to last until mid-May

Downstream polyvinyl chloride (PVC) operations are reduced at the Rheinberg site during the VCM plant outage period, but PVC operations are being supported by volumes being shifted from other sites and stocks already having been built in advance.

The nameplate capacity for PVC at the Rheinberg site is 320,000 tonnes/year, as confirmed by the company source. Precise VCM nameplate capacity details were not officially disclosed.
