SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Satellite Petro-chemical is expected to start up its 450,000 tonne/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant in Pinghu within this month, a company source said on Wednesday.

The plant will be the first to use Honeywell’s UOP technology to produce propylene in China.

No exact date was given on when the plant will come on stream, but a market source said it could be on 18 July.

The PDH plant’s output will supply propylene feedstock to the company’s acylic acid (AA) units, the company source said.

Zhejiang Sattellite has two AA plants in two separate locations in Zhejiang province – Jiaxing and Pinghu – with a combined capacity of 320,000 tonnes/year.

Its third AA plant with a 160,000 tonne/year capacity and located in Pinghu is expected to start up this month, the company source said.
