US Evangeline Pipeline shut down after leak discoveredHOUSTON (ICIS)–US Boardwalk Partners said on Wednesday that it has shut down the Evangeline Pipeline because of the discovery of a leak.

A company spokesman said the leak was discovered while the company was attempting to remove an inspection unit that was stuck in the line.

The pipeline was restarted on 16 December 2014 after being down since 10 October 2014, and experienced another outage earlier in 2013-14.

The spokesman said the shutdown started on 13 January and that no timetable was available for the restart of the pipeline.

The pipeline is a major source of ethylene into Louisiana from Texas producers, and will likely lead to a premium for buyers in Louisiana until the planned restart of Williams Olefins’s Geismar cracker in Louisiana, which is scheduled for some time in January.
