LONDON (ICIS)--Exports of benzene out of the EU saw a 63% increase in January 2015 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data released by statistics agency Eurostat on Tuesday.

This continues the trend in December 2014 following the steep drop in European benzene prices, and the weakening euro against the US dollar earlier this year also supported export business out of the EU.

Imports of benzene proved relatively steady when compared to the previous year as well as in comparison to December 2014, an indication of Europe’s growing structural reliance on import volumes.
