SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical is planning to conduct trial runs at its two ethylene derivative plants in December-January before bringing its methanol-to-olefin (MTO) plant on stream, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The company has already imported ethylene to test its 300,000 tonne/year ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and 180,000 tonne/year ethylene oxide (EO) plants located in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, the source said.

The company's MTO plant, which can produce 370,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and 460,000 tonnes/year of propylene, will start up in February-March if the downstream plants complete the test runs successfully, the source added.
