TORONTO (ICIS)--Bagfas Bandirma Gubre Fabrikalari AS (Bagfas) plans to revamp its calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) plant on the south coast of the Marmara Sea, Turkey, Canadian energy and petrochemicals engineer SNC-Lavalin said on Thursday.

With the revamp, Bagfas aims to "achieve the plant's capacity performance" of 2,000 tonnes/day for CAN and 1,550 tonnes/day for stabilised ammonium nitrate, according to SNC, which won an engineering contract for the work.

"At the end of the contract, which is estimated to last approximately eight and a half months, the plant is expected to reach its design production capacity, estimated at 660,000 tonnes/year of granular calcium ammonium nitrate", SNC added.

It did not disclose financial details, and it did not say by when exactly the revamp is expected to be completed.
