MOSCOW (MRC)–Negotiations on European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) prices for May delivery into the CIS markets began last week, with most producers intending to roll over April prices and some with a little increase, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Report.

Negotiations have been delayed due to holidays with not all producers beginning to agree deals on 5 May.

The May contract price of ethylene was agreed at the level of April, which makes it possible to talk about the rollover of April PVC prices.

Local producers still have significant export restrictions and some are considering the possibility of further increase in export prices. Some producers announced a price increase of €5/tonne from the April level.

One of the producers postponed all negotiations on May supplies until the middle of the month.

In general, negotiations on May shipments of suspension polyvinyl chloride (SPVC) to the CIS markets are held in the range of €860-930/tonne FCA (free carrier) for K64/67 PVC, whereas April deals were done in the range of €860-925/tonne FCA.

Deals for K70 PVC were offered on average up by €20/tonne.

All buyers continued to face significant export restrictions – every month they manage to contract an ever smaller volume of PVC.

Some companies reported that they did not even receive part of the volumes that had been agreed for delivery in April.
