HOUSTON (ICIS)--BASF has lifted force majeure on its dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) plasticizer, according to a customer letter obtained by ICIS on Wednesday.

The company declared force majeure on 29 August after the storm dumped record amounts of rain on the Houston area, impeding BASF’s ability to process material at its Pasadena, Texas, site. BASF also declared force majeure on plasticizer feedstock 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH).

BASF said it continues to work through transportation and logistics restrictions stemming from Hurricane Harvey.

The company’s Pasadena site was revamped this year to produce 2-EH and DOTP, and it started producing both in July. DOTP capacity at the site is 60,000 tonnes/year.
