HOUSTON (ICIS)–US spot ethylene margins fell by 5.5% during the week ended 6 October, mostly on lower spot ethylene values, the ICIS margin report showed on Monday.

Spot ethylene values fell by 4.7% during the week.

Ethane costs on an ethylene production basis fell 0.35 cents/lb during the week, which mitigated some of the margin loss.

Contract ethylene margins rose by 1.2% during the week, mostly on cheaper ethane, and on a recent 4 cent/lb increase in the September contract.

Ethane cracker co-product credits were down by 2.6% week on week on a contract ethylene basis and fell by 1.8% on a spot ethylene basis.
