LONDON (ICIS)--European post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle prices have firmed for October, sources said on Monday.
Colourless post-consumer bottle prices were assessed at €385-440/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) while mixed coloured post-consumer bottles are now €275-310/tonne FD NWE.
Supply sentiment was mixed for post-consumer PET bottles, though most sources agreed that supply is tight, while demand remains healthy.
However, one producer said it had plentiful stock of post-consumer bottles for the next few months.
Colourless post-consumer PET bottle supply constraints were said to be impacting the market, and placing upwards pressure on colourless flakes.
The mixed coloured post-consumer PET bottles market was said to be more stable in comparison.
The majority of sources agreed that prices for mixed coloured post-consumer PET bottles had firmed by €10/tonne, although one buyer said prices had softened earlier this month.
Players also agreed that colourless post-consumer PET bottles had increased by the same amount, although one buyer quoted larger increases.
Post-consumer PET bottle supply shortages have also led to tightness in other recycled polyethylene terephthalate (R-PET) products this month, such as colourless R-PET flakes.
