construction and chemical company Daelim
Industrial Co will conduct a feasibility study
on the Thai firm’s planned cracker in the US.
Denmark’s Haldor
Topsoe tapped for world-scale IGP Methanol US
Gulf Coast complex
US producer IGP Methanol has awarded
a technology licensing contract to Haldor
Topsoe for work on what is expected to be the
world’s largest methanol production complex,
the Denmark-headquartered engineering firm said
on Tuesday.
LyondellBasell
declares force majeure on US
EO/EG
LyondellBasell has declared force majeure on
US ethylene oxide (EO) (pure)
and ethylene glycols (EG) due to
the complete failure of third-party
supplier of steam to the Bayport, Texas EO
plant, according to a customer letter obtained
on Tuesday.
US Enterprise,
Navigator form joint venture to build ethylene
export terminal
Enterprise Products Partners and Navigator
Holdings have formed a 50:50 joint venture to
build a new 1m
tonne/year ethylene export facility
along the US Gulf Coast, the US and UK
companies said on Wednesday.
BASF set to start
construction on new US MDI plant in early
Q2
BASF will start on the construction of a new
methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) synthesis
unit at its US site in Geismar, Louisiana,
early in the second quarter, the Germany-based
chemicals major said on Wednesday.
US February
benzene settles lower, market moves back into
contango
US February benzene contracts settled
at an 11 cent/gal ($33/tonne) decline from
January on Wednesday.
US DowDuPont to
start up LDPE, EPDM plants in
Q1
DowDuPont plans to start up its new low
density polyethylene (LDPE) plant
and ethylene propylene diene
monomer (EPDM) plant in the first quarter, the
company said on Thursday.
Initial US
January ethylene contracts settle 0.25 cent/lb
higher
Initial US January ethylene contract
settlements have been agreed at an increase of
0.25 cent/lb from the prior month, market
sources said on Thursday, although the
settlement is not yet confirmed to be
marketwide.
LyondellBasell moves
ahead with new petchem project
planning
LyondellBasell is advancing plans for new
petrochemical projects, mainly in the US, its
CEO said on Friday.
