HOUSTON (ICIS)--Huntsman anticipates achieving full production at its expanded methyl di-p phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant in Caojing, China within six-to-nine months, according to comments during its Q4 earnings call on Friday.
The company said that its Caojing 2 plant is undergoing a normal start-up process and that full production should be achieved six-to-nine months later, assuming that the plant does not suffer any mechanical damage during the initial run-up in operating rates.
Company exectuitves stated that their Caojing 1 plant required around 14 months of operational ramp-up before reaching full production.
Huntsman’s Caojing 2 plant will have 240,000 tonnes/year of MDI capacity and will be operated as a joint venture along with BASF, Shanghai Hua Yi (Group) Co, Shanghai Chlor-Akali Chemical Co and Sinopec Group Assets Management Corp.
The Caojing 1 plant also has a capacity of 240,000 tonnes/year.
