LyondellBasell lifts force majeure on US acetic acid

HOUSTON (ICIS)–LyondellBasell lifted its force majeure on US acetic acid on Friday, according to a letter to customers.
The producer said in the letter dated 30 March that the force majeure has ceased effective immediately.
LyondellBasell declared the force majeure on 16 February because of the failure of a third-party carbon monoxide supplier, said by market sources to be Linde.
In the force majeure letter in February, LyondellBasell said it shut down production at the La Porte acetic acid plant, which has annual capacity of 544,000 tonnes/year.
A few days later LyondellBasell put all of its US acetic acid customers on a monthly allocation of 70%.
The Friday letter did not address allocations, only saying that customers should contact the company if they have questions about availability.
