LONDON (ICIS)–Maire Tecnimont has won an engineering contract for Borouge’s new 480,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit (PP5 Project) in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, the Italian petrochemicals engineer said on Friday.

PP5, to be completed by the end of 2021, will be integrated within the existing Borouge 3 Complex.

Tecnimont’s contract is for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the PP unit and associated facilities.

The contract award followed completion of the project’s front-end engineering design (FEED), which was also carried out by Tecnimont.

The precise contract value was not disclosed. However, Tecnimont said that the PP5 deal was part of “several new awards and additional works”, worth a total $730m, it has been granted recently.

Borouge is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Borealis, an Austria-based international producer of petrochemicals and plastics.
