KBR has won a contract for work on Methanex’s
potential third methanolproject at
Geismar, Louisiana, the US petrochemicals
engineer said on Tuesday.

contract settles higher on stronger spot
prices
US August benzene contracts settled
up 4 cents/gal ($12/tonne), putting prices at
$2.88/gal free on board (FOB) US Gulf.
US Enterprise
considers second PDH plant
Enterprise Products is considering a
second propane dehydrogenation (PDH)
unit given the outlook for propylene, the
CEO of the US-based midstream and petrochemical
producer said on Wednesday.
Lack of new
downstream plants lead to US ethylene
disconnect – DowDuPont
Ethylene markets in the US Gulf Coast have
become disconnected because there is not enough
derivative demand or supply to convert it, an
executive with DowDuPont said on Thursday.
China announces
25% retaliatory tariff on US LNG, other goods;
timing yet to be set
The Chinese commerce ministry has announced
retaliatory tariffs on US goods, including
liquefied natural gas (LNG), which will be
subject to a 25% tariff, the agency said
on Friday.The timing of the tariffs will be
announced at a later date.

developers view China-imposed tariffs as
threat, unproductive
US liquefied natural gas (LNG) companies and
advocates said that
the announcement by China’s finance
ministry on its intent to impose a
25% tariff on US LNG is detrimental for the
industry, although timing of imposing the
tariffs are unclear.
