APIC ’18: Malaysia soon set to become net PP exporter

KUALA LUMPUR (ICIS)–Malaysia is soon set to become a net polypropylene (PP) exporter following the start-up of two new projects, the Malaysian Petrochemicals Association (MPA) said on Monday.

This includes Lotte Chemical Titan’s third PP line with a nameplate capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year at Pasir Gudang which started up earlier this year.
In 2019, PETRONAS is set to start up its 900,000 tonnes/year PP unit at the company’s new Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Johor, Malaysia.
The new PP units will boost Malaysia’s PP production capacity to 1.54m tonnes/year by 2020, the MPA data showed.
The MPA data was published in a report for the
2018 Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference
(APIC) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which
runs on 20-21 August.
