LONDON (ICIS)--Europe benzene September spot prices closed $25-50/tonne below the previous week at 17:00 London time on Friday, standing now at an average level not seen since the fourth quarter of 2017.
September close prices are based on the last quoted bids and offers at $800-840/tonne.
Supply remains long, despite the restart of the downstream styrene facility in Maasvlakte after its unplanned outage, and also despite crude oil prices reaching a four-month high at one point this week.
October prices stayed in contango at close with bids at $840/tonne and offers at $860/tonne.
Prices are all on a cost, insurance, freight (CIF) Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam (ARA) basis.
