HOUSTON (ICIS)--US liquid caustic soda exports rebounded in July after a June lull that helped rebuild domestic supply, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
July shipments almost doubled June’s weak performance and was the strongest single month for US exports so far this year, the data showed.
They were up 7% from July 2017’s volumes, according to data.

Higher US prices also destroyed some demand in Latin America and at some large buyers dotted in different global markets.
Lower prices in Asia and Europe opened the arbitrage from both directions and gave US domestic buyers more alternatives and took some business in Latin America, Africa and elsewhere, particularly among some large-volume buyers in the alumina industry.
US spot export prices have continued to soften since as US producers gather up lost market share.
US exports are down 7% so far this year.
US imports are down 6% through July from the first seven months of 2017, according to the data.
