Ukraine’s Karpatneftekhim shuts HDPE, PVC units for maintenance

MOSCOW (MRC)–Ukraine’s Karpatneftekhim petrochemical plant, the largest in the country, has taken offline production of high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for maintenance, according to ICIS-MRC Price report.
The scheduled turnaround started on 5 November and is expected to conclude around 4 December for HDPE and a few days later for PVC.
Karpatneftekhim resumed operations in June 2017 after a five-year outage.
Karpatneftekhim has capacities to produce 300,000 tonnes/year of PVC, 200,000 tonnes/year of caustic soda, about 180,000 tonnes/year of chlorine, as well as 250,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and 100,000 tonnes/year of polyethylene (PE).
