SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s ethylene imports grew by 16% year on year in the first three quarters of 2018, according to China customs data.
Nearly 1.85m tonnes were shipped to the country, versus 1.59m tonnes in the same period last year.
September-arrival cargoes were up 0.8% month-on-month at 229,779 tonnes.
Import demand was robust this year on the back of downstream capacity expansions and strong margins for buyers producing styrene monomer (SM) and ethylene oxide (EO).
