European SBR talks for November contracts lower on feedstock falls

LONDON (ICIS)--European styrene butandiene rubber (SBR) November contracts are being discussed at lower levels given the downwards movements on feedstock prices, buyers and sellers said.

Both the butadiene (BD) and styrene contract prices for November tumbled lower by €100/tonne and €170/tonne respectively.

Triple digit drops are also being discussed by SBR players, though talks are in the initial stages so far.

Limited export opportunities to Asia are resulting in good supply in Europe.

Demand has been on the low side for some sources, though Germany’s new-car registrations jumped 26.2% in October month on month after collapsing in September amid difficulties in the country’s auto industry in implementing the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) on emissions.
