HOUSTON (ICIS)--Phillips 66 has lifted a force majeure from its 352,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Linden, New Jersey, the company confirmed on Friday.
The force majeure was declared on 5 September following some production issues at the adjacent Bayway Refinery, which supplies propylene to the PP plant.
Production at the plant was resumed in November, although the force majeure remained in place as the company ramped up operating rates to rebuild inventories.
US PP supply has been tight for most of 2018 but has been easing toward the year end, with most major plant disruptions resolved and propylene feedstock availability improving.
Major US PP producers include Braskem, ExxonMobil, Formosa, INEOS, LyondellBasell, Phillips 66 and Total Petrochemicals.
