Japan's weather agency forecasts warmer winter

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s weather agency published its latest forecast on 10 January that predicted temperatures to be above the norm in the 12 January to 11 February.

Most regions of Japan, except Tohoku and Hokkaido, are forecast to have a 40-50% chance of temperatures above the norm for that period. Tohoku and Hokkaido are anticipated to experience temperatures in the normal range. Accordingly, Japanese LNG consumption for winter heating could remain capped, traders said, on soft demand for prompt cargoes as LNG stocks are ample.
