Lotte Chemical starts up US EG unit; LACC cracker to start up in H1 2019

HOUSTON (ICIS)–The new ethylene glycol (EG) unit at Lotte Chemical’s facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has started production, according to a company source.
The planned ethane cracker at Westlake Chemical/Lotte Chemical’s joint venture, known as LACC, is not yet in the start-up phase, but is anticipated to start up sometime in the first half of 2019, according to a spokesman at Westlake Chemical.
Lotte’s EG unit has a capacity of 760,000 tonnes/year, while the LACC cracker will have a capacity of 1m tonnes/year.
