AFPM ’19: US kosher crude glycerine markets seeing upward price pressure

SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)–US kosher crude glycerine markets are starting to see the effects of lower biodiesel production, market players said on the sidelines of this year’s International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).
An uptick in demand from other purchasing tiers for the second quarter is also putting upward pressure on the market.
These other markets will likely be able to outbid the refining buyers with the current refined glycerine price levels.
Most biodiesel plants produce by-product crude glycerine at a 1:10 ratio.
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel, produced from renewable resources. The most commonly used feedstocks are rapeseed, soy and palm oil.
Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC takes place on 24-26 March in San Antonio, Texas.
