HOUSTON (ICIS)–The US antidumping investigation regarding acetone imports from Belgium, Korea, Singapore, South Africa and Spain will continue, but the investigation involving material from Saudi Arabia has been terminated.

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) determined on Thursday that there is reasonable indication that the domestic acetone industry is materially injured by imports from the five countries allegedly being sold in the US at less than fair value.

Thursday’s ITC vote means that the US Department of Commerce will continue its antidumping duty probe regarding the five countries but drop its investigation involving Saudi Arabia.

The petitioners in the case were US acetone producers AdvanSix, Altivia Petrochemicals and Olin.

Major US acetone producers are INEOS Phenol, Altivia, AdvanSix, Shell Chemicals, SABIC and Olin.
