Feiplastic ’19: Braskem eyes early 2020 start-up for US’ PP plant

SAO PAULO (ICIS)–Braskem’s new polypropylene (PP) plant that it is building in the US remains on schedule and on budget, an executive at the Brazilian petrochemicals major said.

Braskem expects to complete construction of the new plant in early 2020, said Edison Terra, vice president of Braskem’s business unit for polyolefins, renewables and Europe.

He made his comments on the sidelines of the Feiplastic plastic trade show.

The plant is located at La Porte, Texas, and it will have a capacity of 1bn lb/year (454,000 tonnes/year).

The Feira Internacional do Plastic (Feiplastic) runs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 22-26 April.
