MOSCOW (MRC)–Five polypropylene (PP) producers intend to shut their capacities for scheduled maintenance in September, according to the ICIS-MRC Price Report.

This September will be unusual for the Russian PP market due to the turnarounds. Most shutdowns are anticipated to be brief.

The exception to this is Stavrolen, with capacity of 120,000 tonnes/year, which intends to stop production from 1 September for more than 40 days.

From 5 September Tomskneftekhim will close its 140,000 tonnes/year capacity, with work expected to resume after two weeks.

Ufaorgsintez plans to shut PP production from 12 September for 12 days at its 120,000 tonnes/year site.

Poliom and Nizhnekamskneftekhim are yet to announce the exact dates for scheduled maintenance.

The Poliom 230,000 tonnes/year site is expected to close for two weeks in the second half of September, while Nizhnekamskneftekhim’s 210,000 tonnes/year site is expected to close for one week in the same period.

There are seven PP producers in Russia, with annual capacity reaching 1.45m.

ZapSibNeftekhim is expected to bring 500,000 tonne/year of new capacity online by the end of this year.
