MOSCOW (MRC)--Nizhnekamskneftekhim’s November prices for high impact polystyrene (HIPS) and general purpose polystyrene (GPPS) dropped by Roubles (Rb)2,000/tonnes for Russian buyers, according to ICIS-MRC Price report.
GPPS was tight in Russia at the end of last month but the shortage of HIPS was even more acute.
There were some expectations that polystyrene (PS) November prices would roll over from, despite the price pressure from foreign markets.
The November range for injection moulding and extrusion GPPS was assessed at Rb90,500-95,500/tonnes, for foaming-grade at Rb88,500-93,000/tonnes CPT Moscow, and for HIPS at Rb95,500-100,500/tonnes, all carriage paid to (CPT) Moscow and including VAT.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim (part of the TAIF group) raised October PS prices for the Russian market by Rb2,000/tonne. The on-going shortage of PS in the Russian market was the main reason for the increase.
