MOSCOW (MRC)–Kazakhstan’s only producer of polypropylene (PP) Neftekhim has shut down its production for an  unscheduled maintenance, according to an MRC Price report.

Sources said the PP facility shut PP production on 26 April on the back of lack of feedstock shipments from the Pavlodar refinery, which has suspended operations after a sharp decrease in demand.

The plant’s PP production capacity stands at 45,000 tonnes/year.

Neftekhim also produces methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE).

MRC, a partner of ICIS, produces polymers news and pricing reports from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
