Russia PE output up 59% in Q1 January-March

MOSCOW (MRC)–Russia’s polyethylene (PE) first-quarter production stood at 734,600 tonnes, up 59% year on year, according to an MRC ScanPlast report.

Production of all PE grades rose, but linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) accounted for the greatest increase after the ZapSibNeftekhim facilities started up the LLDPE line.

High density polyethylene (HDPE) production grew to 420,600 tonnes in January-March, up by 78% year on year.

Output of low density polyethylene (LDPE) rose 3% to 173,200 tonnes, with producers Gazprom neftekhim Salavat, Kazanorgsintez, and Tomskneftekhim increasing output.

Overall LLDPE output rose to 140,800 tonnes in Q1, up from 56,500 tonnes a year earlier.
