LONDON (ICIS)–Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) on Wednesday scrapped its third ammonia purchase tender in four weeks after another batch of unfavourable offers.

The Indian company had been seeking around 7,500 tonnes of the nitrogen fertilizer for late Q3 delivery to Kochi (Cochin), but offers from three suppliers were all rejected as too high.

FACT now expects to reissue the enquiry with a different arrival window for material to the west coast port.

Under the 27 July tender, Muntajat and Trammo both offered at $290/tonne CFR (cost &freight) with no credit, while SABIC made an approach at $295/tonne CFR with 45 days’ credit.

Two previous tenders for similar-sized cargoes for July and August delivery were scrapped as offers in the $275-320/tonne CFR range were also considered too costly.
