SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Asia phenol and acetone participants have been rattled by reduced supply, with South Korea’s Yeosu-based LG Chem’s production heard to have been cut to 60% following last week’s fire, alongside turnarounds at Kumho P&B, Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals, and China’s Formosa Plastics.

Derivative demand is strong, but the mood is weighed down by scheduled capacity additions in China, with Shandong Lihuayi, Formosa Plastics and a restart pending at Zhejiang Petrochemicals.

Together with the recent election in US, what can the market players look forward to?

In this episode of the ICIS Asia podcast, Jasmine Khoo speaks with Angeline Soh, editor for the Asia phenol and acetone market, on the Asian market’s recent developments.
