MOSCOW (MRC)–European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers have increased their PVC export prices for CIS markets on the back of higher feedstocks prices, according to an MRC Price report.

The European ethylene January contract price was agreed up by €65/tonne to  €860/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe); ethylene is a key feedstock for PVC production.

Amid strong demand from both the domestic and export markets, European producers raised their PVC export prices for the CIS markets in January by €20-40/tonne.

Demand for PVC, however, fell significantly from consumers in the CIS countries in January due to seasonal factors at the peak of the winter and outages of production capacities.

PVC supply from European producers also increased but the market has so far been able to absorb it.

Deals for January shipments of to CIS markets were negotiated in the range of €875-965/tonne FCA (free carrier), up from €855-925/tonne FCA.
