Correction: In the ICIS story headlined “Lion Elastomers declares force majeure on US Orange, Port Neches SBR” dated 31 August, please read the headline as ” Lion Elastomers declares force majeure on Port Neches SBR…” instead of ” Lion Elastomers declares force majeure on US Orange, Port Neches SBR”.

Please read paragraph 1 as …synthetic rubber grades from its US Port Neches, Texas, site… instead of …synthetic rubber grades from its US Orange, and Port Neches, Texas, sites….

HOUSTON (ICIS)–Lion Elastomers confirmed it declared force majeure on synthetic rubber grades from its US Port Neches, Texas, site, effective immediately as of 17 February or as contracts allow, according to a customer letter obtained by ICIS.

The letter said further reductions in supply may be required and will be communicated as they become necessary.

The force majeure declaration was issued after the company shut both its Orange and Port Neches sites amid extreme weather-related disruptions in Texas and the US Gulf.

Lion’s Orange and Port Neches sites remain down but are preparing to restart as early as this weekend if the utilities required are all available.

Both sites are receiving natural gas and restarting steam operations, according to another customer letter.
