SINGAPORE (ICIS)–The recent spate of outages in the US following the winter storm has disrupted supply for a host of commodities, causing prices of crude and other products to go up sharply. The impact of the US outages is being felt more in polyethylene markets than some other commodities as the US is a major producer.

Veena Pathare, editor in charge of the PE Middle East and South Asia markets, and Izham Ahmad, editor in charge of PE Asia Pacific, discuss the impact these outages have had on their respective regions.

  • US outages lend Middle East producers advantage
  • Middle East supply also expected to remain tight
  • Asia demand recovery led by China
