HOUSTON (ICIS)–US-based catalyst producer WR Grace said on Monday that its UNIPOL process technology has been selected by Enter Engineering for use in a polypropylene (PP) plant it is building in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.

The PP plant, expected to be launched by-2025 with a proposed capacity of 257,000 tonnes/year, will receive propylene from a methanol-to-olefins (MTO) plant being built in the complex.

Enter Engineering will be the licensee on behalf of Jizzakh Petroleum LLC, the joint venture (JV) that will own and operate the MTO gas chemical complex.

Laura Schwinn, president of Grace’s specialty catalysts business, said this is the first use of the company’s PP process technology in Uzbekistan.

“We look forward to seeing Jizzakh Petroleum becoming the premier supplier of polypropylene resins in the region,” she said.
