SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Maire Tecnimont has been awarded a contract by Indian Oil Corp for a new 200,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant at IOC’s Barauni refinery in Bihar state, the engineering firm said on Monday.

The $170m engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract also consists of related product logistics facilities, it said in a statement.

The contract’s “time schedule is 30 months from the award date up to mechanical completion”, it said.

“The new polypropylene plant will be part of IOC’s Barauni Refinery capacity expansion project, which entails the installation of large grassroots units as well as revamps and upgrades to increase the capacity of current units,” Maire Tecnimont said.
