SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Chemicals shipments at Zhenhai port, and from the localized plants, have been suspended following detection of a new COVID-19 infection in Ningbo in East China’s Zhejiang Province, market sources said.

Zhenhai region, where the case was found, is under full locked down.

All the people in this region are being tested for infection.

These include staff with Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co, Fund Energy Ningbo Co, and with a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant of Yisheng Petrochemical in the region.

A market source said the polypropylene (PP) plant of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical may cut operation, while the company’s ethylene glycol plant is still operating.

Fund Energy Ningbo’s PP and mono ethylene glycol (MEG) plants are already under planned maintenance since last week.

Separately, transportation of acrylate esters is also affected because its drivers and trucks are located in Zhenhai, a source close to Formosa Industries (Ningbo) Co said.
