LONDON (ICIS)–Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) pricing has softened in all regions, although prices in Europe have steadied on pressure from natural gas and energy costs.
Prices in the US have also stabilised, but the region continues to attract imports as they remain well above those in Asia and Europe.
Europe MEK editor Nick Cleeve joins Asia-Pacific editor Julia Tan and US editor Larry Terry to discuss the global market and prices across the various regions.
MEK’s main
application is as a solvent, with half of
global demand derived from the paints and
coatings industry. MEK can also be used in
rubber-based industrial cements, printing inks
and in textile dyes.
