HOUSTON (ICIS)–Harvesting of US corn is now at 93% while the soybean acreage is now completed according to the latest US Department of Agriculture (USDA) weekly crop progress report.

While farmers are almost finished on most of the corn acreage for this year, the current pace is lagging behind the 96% achieved in 2022 but is ahead of the five-year average of 91%.

North Carolina, Kansas and Texas have finished their acreage with most of the remaining states getting close to being done with their harvest.

Weather could be more challenging this week for those finishing the last of their fields or advancing on post-harvest fertilizing, especially in parts of the US Corn Belt.

The current forecast is for another pattern spreading more precipitation across some of the key crop states and bringing lower temperatures after the rain lifts.

It is expected this change could also bring forth more snow in northern areas.
