ICIS enhances Asia and Middle East base oils pricing coverage to reflect changing market dynamics

ICIS, a trusted source of petrochemicals market intelligence with unrivalled expertise in global base oils, has enhanced its coverage of both Asian and Middle Eastern markets. The ICIS Asia Base Oils Price Report and ICIS Middle East Base Oils Price Report now include new price assessments, as well as price alerts for key Asian base oils quotes.

A recent ICIS webinar explored the impact of the low crude prices, shifting demand for Group I, II and III and changing trade dynamics. The crude oil price crash coincided with the growing number of start-ups in 2014, which led to ample supply in both regions amid volatile market fundamentals and decreasing usage of Group I base oils. Supply is expected to continue growing in 2015, especially if Iranian sanctions are lifted this summer.

The updated pricing reports are designed to provide accurate and relevant insight to industry players, in light of these developments...

In addition, 150N and 500N Group II Singapore ex-tank quotes have been included to improve market visibility in light of increasing Group II trades.  By making these additions, subscribers now gain access to the latest prices first, to strengthen their bargaining position.

The ICIS Middle East Base Oils Price Report now provides greater coverage of Iranian cargoes by including FOB Iran spot quotes, to reflect the growing role of Iran in the region, which is likely to increase should sanctions be lifted.

“We find the price alerts very useful for our decisions. This service provides us interactive prices, enabling us to conclude deals easier and faster. As buyers always mull over and delay in sharing feedback to us and often extend the validity of our offers by saying that ICIS reports only publish on Saturday. Now, we can have discussions more effectively.”
