SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Numerous petrochemical plants and facilities in Japan are either shut or running at low rates following the deadly earthquake and devastating tsunami of 11 March.

Here is the latest status of some of the crackers and petrochemical plants as of Friday, 22 April.

JAPAN DISASTER: AGC restarts caustic soda unit in Kashima
Japan’s Asahi Glass Co (AGC) has restarted its 350,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant at Kashima in Ibaraki prefecture, a company source said on Friday.

JAPAN DISASTER: Mitsubishi Chem to restart phenol/acetone unit
Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical plans to restart its Kashima-based phenol/acetone plant at the end of June, a company source said on Thursday.

JAPAN DISASTER: Kureha to restart caustic soda unit
