France’s Total mulls building 400,000 tonne/year China PS plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Total Petrochemicals is looking at building a new 400,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) plant at Zhenhai, Ningbo city, in China, the French petrochemicals major said on Friday.

Financial details of the possible investment were not disclosed.

The company has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the administrative committee of Ningbo petrochemical economic and technological development zone and expects to confirm the investment in the first half of year 2012, Total Petrochemicals said in a statement.

The company operates a 200,000 tonne/year PS plant at Foshan in China’s Guangdong province and a 100,000 tonne/year plant in Singapore.
