Fire at ExxonMobil refinery in Texas injures at least 12HOUSTON (ICIS)–ExxonMobil’s Beaumont refinery in Texas experienced a fire on Wednesday, injuring at least 12 contract employees.

The fire occurred at about 10:30 Houston time within a process unit that was down for maintenance, ExxonMobil spokesperson Rachael Moore said, adding that the blaze has been extinguished.

Six workers were being transported to area hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment, and all other employees and contractors have been accounted for.

“We sincerely regret this has happened and will conduct a complete investigation to determine the cause of the incident,” Moore said.
